What a gig. Really. If you missed it, boy did you miss it. Thanks so much to the enthusiastic crowd that packed into The Living Room in NYC to hear the angelic yet fiercely energetic, poignant, raw and vulnerable tones of elaine k. Joined onstage this time by the amazing Gweneviere Mann and the amazing Lisabelle Heida, you could have heard a penny drop when their voices were joined so harmoniously sending shivers down the spines of the lucky audience...

It's busy here, lots of filming going on... If you haven't checked recently - you might wanna swing over to the video page... Among other shoots, elaine had the good fortune to work with The Rooftop Sessions here in NYC and they had so much fun that they did multiple live single take videos. They also teamed up to shoot a video to I Hate You Too and all videos are available here and on YouTube so please check them out and tell us what you think. Also available this month will be the video to I'm Sorry. We have had multiple reports that this song has made more than one of you um, well...cry, so you might be especially interested. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We're all about love, hope, passion, compassion, peace, awareness and sloppy kisses this year. 2009 has so much within it that frankly, it scares and excites us simultaneously. The launch here in NYC of the long awaited bare bones was simply fantastic... elaine was grinning from ear to ear for the entire night! Thanks to the lovely venue, Rockwood Music Hall, for letting us take the place over for the night. Thanks to Ed Heck who comes to every show and especially for the amazing artwork that made its way onto the album and even the cake! (all his artwork is amazing - look him up edheck.com) Speaking of the cake, thanks to Sweet Tutts Cakes for providing the celebratory feast that delighted all (sweettuttscakes.com)....elaine was joined onstage by the wonderful Frank Perri on piano and keys, the new addition and so sweet sounding, Lisabell Heida on backing vocals and of course we all know elaine doesn't do shows without the amazing Gweneviere Mann on backing vocals, bass, bad ass boots and style... Thanks to the audience, those of you who never miss a show (you know who you are - and yeah, so do we) and those who came out for the first time - you made it very special for all of us...

It's so close that we swear we can taste it. The wait is nearly over - the release date for the album that we feared might simply never make it is being shipped as we speak! bare bones is due to be released at the end of September with a cd release gig in NYC. So we were just as sad as you were, when one of our favorite venues to play in NYC - The Baggot Inn let us know they had to close their doors on West 3rd Street for good. The small upside was the send off night that happened on May 16th that elaine k was asked to play at. It was a good crowd consoling themselves with good music, good drinks and great performances. Thanks for coming out - and thanks to The Baggot Inn for all the support of original music they have shown NYC over the years. Here's hoping they'll find a new venue and be up and running soon....

here's the only news you need - a mastering date for the 3rd and long awaited album has been set! elaine will be headed into those wizards in Sterling Sound here in NYC to master on May 1st. Woooohooooo, it's on the way folks, it's really on the way...

January - March 2008
Happy New Year! May this year bring all that you ever wanted - including a new elaine k album!...recent highlights here at the elaine k camp include elaine's music being used in some television shows.... also a mention by music friend Jackie Hayden over at Hot Press, Ireland, in his book, A Man in a Woman's World. The book details Jackie's experiences working in the Rape Crisis Network in Ireland and gives mention to elaine along with artists like Toris Amos, Joni Mitchell and Christy Moore for works related to domestic violence - "The Irish singer-songwriter elaine k wrote a searing song 'The Ballad' about rape, in which the electric guitar solo itself expresses a fiercely unsettling mood of fear crossed with anger." We thank Jackie for the recognition.

August - December 2007
So elaine's vocal recovery took longer than expected, it's a road paved with many a hiccup but it is at least a moving journey and the long awaited third album will happen (if a whole lot later than any of us wanted)....The recordings over the last few years - before and after the surgery are being compiled but elaine is still keen to add new material too and wants to be sure that it makes it on that shiny cd also...In the meantime, winter is here - so be sure to spread a little love to keep us all warm...

April - July 2007
So we continued reneging on our monthly duties (if only to be in a position to yet again use our favorite word 'reneging') and have not been saying much of late....but that all changes now - elaine k is in the studio working on the 3rd album! Even the most dedicated of you (and we know who you are) may know some of the new material but certainly not all - as always elaine has a few surprises up her sleeve.... It's true - as a result of the earlier surgery etc. those of you who hang on every tone that comes out of her mouth may notice a slight difference in her voice but the truth is, the changes are minor (as in little and small as opposed to music keys) and the reality is that she's still all elaine k!...we will keep you posted on the developments...

You may have noticed that we have reneged on our duties over the last few months - who ever heard of reporting news in three month increments after all?...we apologise....it's been busy...and not necessarily in the fashion we would prefer. elaine has been busy dealing with the health issues that transpired late last year and has unfortunately been unable to record, produce, gig or sing in this time period....the fantastic news is that her treatment was successful and her recovery is imminent....and although her voice may not return to normal for another few months - all will be good...thanks to all the well wishers for your kindness and to our web followers for your patience!....

ok folks here it is....we have been dreading writing anything about this but we don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. Over recent months elaine k has uncovered some health issues. The most important thing to know is that they really are no big deal, period. The unfortunate part to it is that it has been preventing elaine from doing what she so desperately wants to - record and release the 3rd album. The songs are there, have been started in the studio but at present cannot be completed. So we're only telling you this cause we're getting emails asking when the release date is etc. (and quite rightly too) and we wanted to give a comprehensive and honest answer rather than make up stuff like our dog ate the recording or something like that... All is well, but we have to give elaine a few months to be back in top form and then it's all go again. Thank you so much for your patience!

We know you NYC folks have been patient so we are hoping to get ms. k and co. out for a show or two in the coming months but it seems the studio may need some of her time too... elaine k is a finalist in the International Song Contest with both 'I Will Not Fight Your War' in the Folk category and 'Not About You' in the rock & pop category. She has moved on to Dallas by now and will not be returning to us here in nyc until the new year. elaine will be headed to Ireland, the home country, for some shows over the Christmas season - keep an eye on the appearances page for exact dates as they come in..

OK, so you're not all living in NYC and some of you are probably living in far hotter temperatures than us but we don't think that that denies us the right to complain - It's so freakin hot! ...OK so now that that outburst has caused another few beads of sweat lets talk about elaine k... The show in The Baggot was just amazing! A packed house, a ridiculously enthusiastic crowd and a desire to sing and yell at the top of your voices made for an amazing night.... sorry nyc but you can't have her all to yourself, plans are underway to head to other parts of the country in the coming months - how you folks doing in the south?..

lots of scribbling going on this month, elaine is writing furiously after what she calls "a trip to the carnival" (whatever that means) but we're happy regardless of her inspiration as the new songs are making us cry, laugh, get angry, become peaceful and want a good life!...thanks to the honest nyc fan who sent an email recently stating "I love the album (as is).. I play it on Saturday mornings to beat my man into submission!"... what do you do to 'as is'?!

elaine has finally landed back in NYC! It's the end of June and she's looking forward to some shows here starting with July 15th.... the west coast will have to survive without our songstress for another little while but a big thank you to those who came out to support her!... elaine k and co. will be headed into the studios in the next few months to see how the writing for the next album is coming along...

CONGRATULATIONS elaine k! elaine has been honored by The John Lennon Song Contest 2004 by becoming a finalist in their folk category. It seems that "I Will Not Fight Your War" (which you will know from as is) seized the judges praise and has been duly rewarded....apologies to the NYC fans who were looking forward to the Feb dates - but elaine actually ended up in Florida at short notice and had to give the Floridians a taste of what they had been missing... elaine and co. will be back in March (check the appearances page) and promise not to cancel!...

elaine kicked off the new year with a spectacular performance in NYC on the 15th... the crowd simply would not accept no for an answer on the 'encore' front... new responsibilties for backing vocalist Gweneviere Mann - she now holds the bass post keeping the groove with drummer Matt DeStefano. Gwen will now be referred to as 'Bass Biatch' and meanwhile Matt is thinking of changing his name to Matt Rockmore.... they'll be back in The Baggot on February 18th...

...the silly season is in full swing... elaine's hotel in Atlanta is now playing Christmas music!... thanks to all the elaine k supporters in Atlanta, GA (that she didn't know she had) for coming out to Eddie's Attic for another incendiary performance. elaine has promised to return in '05... elaine's cover of Joe Jackson's Is She Really Going Out With Him is getting some nice attention, we've even gotten word back from radio stations in Spain that have included it on their playlists...

...Ireland has been treating elaine k incredibly well (a little too well by some accounts..) ...very notable performances along with welcome returns to venues such as The Old Oak in Cork and Slattery's in Dublin. Employees of Slattery's were quoted as saying "this was one of the best gigs ever in this venue!"....also a glowing review of 'as is' from main Irish magazine, Hot Press who highlighted elaine's ability and chose "I Will Not Fight Your War" as an incredibly executed track. We will be pasting excerpts from the review shortly.... elaine is looking forward to the remaining gigs here and also to returning to one of her favorite nyc venues, CBGB's Gallery on Oct 1!...

....elaine k reached a deal with mtv in the last few weeks to licence - the entire 'as is' album - instrumental version only, for one of their most popular shows 'Roomraiders' for its 3rd season....looks not like North Carolina as previously thought but in fact Ireland for a fall tour.....shows in NYC going down a treat....catch one quick before she's gone....

...elaine k has just returned to us after a month in Miami Beach.... she was there doing some writing and some work with mtv.... more on that later... talks in progress right now to get elaine back down to North Carolina as her fans there have apparently been missing her terribly - they're working on a small tour in the late fall .... by some bizarre twist of influence from wonderfully talented elaine k drummer and close friend, Matt, we hear that elaine has become the owner of her very own drum kit!.... thanks also to Andrew...

...its getting hotter again in NYC....not much on the performance front this month....some new as is reviews in - just as glowing as the others and always lovely to read.....elaine k was given a notable mention from the song of the year contest with early talks of tv placement for the opening track from as is. It appears that Not About You has enticed some network executives...

...elaine k rocked the house again last night in The Baggot Inn joined by trusty friends Gwen, Matt & Dave (new pics on photos page).... elaine k and co have been busy recording this month after being asked to submit to a Joe Jackson tribute album! They have been working on "Is She Really Going Out With Him". Not exactly known for doing covers (ever), elaine explains this one was a little different "Well when we were asked to submit and for that song in particular it just felt right. We have often broken into that track during rehearsals when we're just goofing around - we all love the track and basically I couldn't come up with a decent reason not to do it. It was great fun coming up with a new version of a great song!"...

...Thank you so much to the artists who donated their time and fantastic talents to the One World Beat gig this month! A billion thanks to the fans who came out to show their extra special support for the cause! We raised some decent money which is being sent off this week to Keep A Child Alive which will no doubt be received with much appreciation. A great night was had by all, and the success of the night opens the door for future possibilities also....

Ireland was a delight as always with definite highlights being Cyprus Ave, a new venue in Cork, and The Ruby Sessions in Dublin where the crowd wouldn't take no for an answer on the matter of encores.... North Carolina was also a blast, thanks to fellow musician Kenny Shore for his great assistance... Thanks to the colleges involved for making elaine feel so welcome!... Many thanks to Music Matters International for all their hard work and making sure that elaine k got little or no sleep during her Irish tour.... Thanks to all the Irish fans who came out to show elaine that out of sight certainly doesn't mean out of mind!... Dublin, Carlow, Sligo to name but a few counties who got to see elaine live... Due to the tough schedule, elaine k did dip a little and lost the ol' voice for a little while - wasn't really part of the plan... elaine sends special thanks to the venues who took the cancellations with such grace and know that you're marked for the next one!

It will be a phone in interview as elaine and the band are still busy with the second album here in NYC..... have you seen those sexy ringer t-shirts yet?.... be sure to check out the new merchandise page recently added to this site (the lovely image of the little t-shirts hanging on the line in the side bar) after believe it or not, there had been actual complaints from fans who had nothing to wear!....

.....HAPPY NEW YEAR!..
....elaine k has finally landed back in NYC after a hectic schedule of gigs, radio interviews and lots of catching up with Irish friends,
associates and of course, some of her favorite musicians (and not forgetting more than a few pints...).
....the Irish fans had obviously been missing their chanteuse, and the proof was in the yelling and screaming from the audiences at all the gigs!
It was certainly enough to make anyone feel at home again!..... the unexpected radio interview with top Irish radio station Newstalk 106 was an added bonus and great success. After hearing that elaine was back in town, they chased her down for their top Friday night spot - an interview and live performance in studio. According to the station, the phones didn't stop ringing as their own host used words like "fantastic" and "truly talented" as elaine sang across the airwaves... so now it's back into the studio again! ....after all, elaine k is planning on releasing an album this year!.....

The Live gig at Arlene last month was a definite success!
The fans screamed, yelled, ooohyahhed and wailed in super appreciation of elaine k and the gang giving it all once again!.... Dublin, Ireland will receive a long awaited return trip from elaine this month! We hear that the fans there have been practising... Be sure to snuggle up with some loved ones this season! Wishing you and yours a VERY HAPPY HOLIDAY from all of us here at elaine k enterprises!

...ouch, ouch and double OUCH!..poor, poor Bryant... the lovely elaine k bass player E. Bryant Hilgraves broke two of his fingers this month! .... drat it, darn it and ouch once again. Yes, that means he will not be around for the live gig - but a trusty steed replacement has stepped up to the plate and they are all in rehearsals already.....we wish Bryant a speedy recovery!... we've been told that there is a good "welly" (as elaine likes to call it) of new material on the way for the Arlene gig - even the regular devotees will have something new to look forward to - even if it means some new songs to learn and sing along to in the one night!......
....we're also excited here about some new expansion plans - elaine k enterprises is getting into some merchandising....be sure to be at the next gig!.....

....What a gig! elaine k and the band rocked the Acme Underground yet again!
...another 'new' look for elaine (although I think we've seen this one before) - looking ever so rock star like!..
...So next month is a gig that we'll all be headed down to! We've even been working on our singing here in the office! elaine k will be recording an Arlene Grocery gig (one of her favorite venues) with a view to putting a few tracks on the upcoming album!... Be there to get your own voice on that album!...
...The Irish fans will be pleased to see the upcoming gigs in December on the appearances page! More are yet to come....

...a quiet month for us here at the dot com headquarters. What with the recording having started, we hardly see elaine at all!...
...planning has gone ahead on some dates over the Christmas period in Ireland though - we know you haven't seen her in quite a while (except for those we know of that travelled Stateside just to catch some gigs!) well, we promise some dates over Christmas! Keep your eye on the appearances page...

..it's finally official - elaine k has started recording the next album!...YeeeeeHaaaaaaa!!....
...elaine and her trusty musicians are gracing themselves upon a studio here in NYC. They commenced the project at the end of this month and are
currently hard at work. The process is expected to last a few months....
...did you see that sexy new guitar that elaine k was sporting at the last gig?....elaine has moved onwards and upwards in guitar ranks!
..she assures us that she has not turned her back on her acoustic guitars, merely added an electric guitar to "kick some of this stuff in the arse". We're also told by other sources that this particular guitar was very hard to come by, that it is a re-issue of a guitar from the 60's and one that was even used by The Beatles.....

....well that sure was a rowdy crowd in The Baggot Inn in the West Village, NYC the other night! Damn! the temerature just kept on rising.....
elaine k and the band much enjoyed the screaming, yelling, hootin' and hollerin' and whistling in appreciation of their performance!...
the free t-shirts went down pretty well too! the lucky audience members who answered the difficult trivia correctly, went home with some one of a kind prototype shirts, and the ones who didn't, have sworn to avenge their loss!...
....hey check out the interview that soundweb.ie, a great Irish website dedicated to the music did with elaine this month - they were delighted to hear all about life in the ever fast moving NYC! elaine k feature with soundweb!

....so we hear that elaine k and the band are in pre-production for the recording of the follow up album to the debut album yeah, really.....
....thankfully, they have still managed to include a few NYC gigs in their busy schedule (check out the appearances page).....
....elaine k is also keeping with her current tradition of working with the stars (last month it was Cher) and was working with Gloria Gaynor this month. Ms. Gaynor (or Gloria, as elaine likes to call her) was filming the music video to the track "I Never Knew" from her upcoming album. Both artists had fun during the shoot and were reported to have enjoyed each other's company.....

....did you catch any of the live shows? the audience is growing and certainly growing in appreciation! The statements and shouts of undying
love and loyalty for elaine k at the Acme Underground on May 31st even threw us for a loop! ....
...other really interesting news that we forgot to tell you but were reminded of by a fan at the most recent gig, is especially for Cher fans. elaine k said yes a couple of months back to taking a small featured part in Cher's video to "Song for the Lonely". In true elaine k fashion, she forgot about the role and never thought of it again until someone on the street stopped her a week or so ago. If you've seen the video, then you've seen elaine! She's featured towards the end as an
appreciative Cher fan - wearing rose colored glasses even!...
....we're planning on having some streaming video files on the site in the next few months and have accordingly started the filming process....

....Yes, it was an interesting Birthday Party! One that included another fantastic performance from elaine k, but also one with a birthday cake and everything!...
....a different sort of birthday pressie also arrived this month - in the shape of talented drummer Matt Destefano.
The first gig with Matt took place on May 7th as he, along with the assistance of solid bassist Bryant, incredibly melodic backing vocalist Gweneviere and elaine k herself, rocked the house silly down at Arlene Grocery in NYC...
... the band have promised to add some new material for the upcoming NYC shows .....

March 2002
....well the news on elaine k this month is that she's busy making arrangements for the recording of the second album.
After visiting many studios and lovely people attached to those studios,
word is....elaine k may in fact simply be building her own studio....
...some changes in the line up were also made this month - new backing vocalist Gweneviere Mann has just gotten on board. Gwen just moved to NYC from San Francisco and within four days of her arrival - auditioned!
elaine is naturally said to be delighted with the new chanteuse...
So there are rehearsals going on as we speak for the upcoming gigs over the next couiple of months in NYC, if you haven't yet, be sure to check out the appearances page (the band playing) before leaving......

.....well we certainly started this month out with a bang! A packed house at Arlene's Grocery in NYC yelled, cheered and screamed with enthusiasm, unyielding appreciation and some would say undying love, during an electrifying elaine k performance that was enjoyed by everyone and adored by most....
....elaine has no gigs currently scheduled due to the audtions currently being held for some new musicians to add to the band. We will let you know as soon as we do....
....other great news: elaine will have her track  Love Moves On featured on an indie sampler due for release in the coming months. Also sharing the sampler are Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians.
....elaine is also currently in negotiations with an independant label yet to be named,
with regard to the follow up album to "yeah, really" - which is also yet to be named....

Hope you all had a great holiday season and celebrated in good style......we know for a fact that those who came down to the elaine k christmas party certainly had a good time! ...
...word on the street (at least on the street where elaine k lives) was that there was much head holding the following day....
...mostly rehearsals this month for elaine and the gang, with some possible auditions for some new musicians also...

....thanks a million to all those who came out and supported elaine k's efforts to raise some money for the relief funds here in nyc... We have deposited a healthy figure with the recently established state fund for the families of all the victims - firefighters, police and twin towers employees alike.....your presence at the gigs were rewards on their own,
but we all know the donations will provide great assitance at this time to those who need it....
.....hope you all had a great halloween! ....
....upcoming gigs will most likely not be until December, elaine k is concentrating on some writing at this time,
but still rehearsing and looking forward to playing next month....

.....not the best month for any of us......our condolences go out to the victims of the horrific tragedy that took place on the eleventh day of this month in our home, nyc.....our thoughts will stay with you and our hopes will stay with all your loved ones..... although there was a chance of cancelling them, elaine k has continued with her scheduled performances and instead turned them into fund raising efforts for relief teams working here at the disaster zone...we want to thank everyone who came out and supported the appearances. check out the appearances page for more dates......all sales of the album including online purchases and gig purchases are being donated to nyc funds also, please encourage friends and family to buy......

elaine k celebrates another birthday this month - her own! .....birthday surprises included an unscheduled perfomance in NYC, and an even more unscheduled performance by the audience with "Happy Birthday To YOu...."...... writing continues for the next album....elaine k is currently working with some new musicians in preparation for some demos....

....check out the inclusion of the song "Good Coffee" on friend and co-writer Manda Stretch's album Vodou Child, which was just released this month. "Good Coffee" is the bonus track that lies at the end of the album - "good to last drop" as penned by Manda. The song was written at a Songwriter's Retreat as an exercise - an exercise that proved quite fruitful! ...a quiet month in terms of performances, but not in terms of work!....elaine k has commenced writing new material for the new album.....the first completed song of 2001 is called I am Falling, described by the artist herself as " a glimpse of a single moment in time where you can feel yourself toying with the open admission of love for someone else. You have no idea of the outcome, but sometimes what you can gain will overide what you may lose..."....elaine's involvement with the film world continues....

..can you believe we're in a new year again already?... christmas in elaine k land was brilliant!..
...the Irish performances went down brilliantly, the radio interviews caused a stir...
...elaine was thrilled again to be performing with the musicians who helped make the original elaine k sound
...it was just so great to be back working with these guys who know what I'm thinking most of the time. I had really forgotten how close you can get to other musicians and how you can reach a level where you don't always have to verbalise the changes you're feeling in a song in the middle of a rehearsal, instead you can just throw a look and the changes somehow get made!"
...Martin Lynam on electric guitar, Paul Byrne on drums and percussion and Yoshi on bass guitar all graced the Irish performances....

... we're headed to Ireland for a spell.... the prospect of starting a new album in 2001 has been approved! The Irish visit will see some preproduction being done and a chance to work again with the wonderful musicians that helped make the amazingly wonderful first album "yeah, really"!...

...Feedback from The Gaslight, NYC gig was great, more people converted to "elaine k-ism"..
....recording commenced on a song project co-written with friend and co-conspirator Manda Stretch. This may become part of Manda's future releases and even elaine k's also. The song - "Good Coffee" is still in the studio.....
